GPS Imaging of Vertical Bedrock Displacements: Quantification of Two?Dimensional Vertical Crustal Deformation in China

چکیده

The Global Positioning System (GPS) derived bedrock displacements respond to multiple geophysical effects, ranging from surface elastic loads tectonic sources or viscoelastic uplifts stemming Earth’s viscous mantle. In this study, the GPS-inferred vertical crustal velocities are rigorously estimated in mainland China. We integrate GPS velocity field with Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) GRACE Follow-On (GFO) data, adopting an empirical Spatial Structure Function (SSF), image deformation China respect International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) 2014. present four profiles across China, which indicate that our new robust results superior kriging. Furthermore, we use GRACE/GFO products account for due mass changes isolate signals at sites within 2002 2019. By integrating measurements, reveal long-term spatial patterns of motion different blocks conclude significant steep gradients occur block boundaries attributable locking strain accumulation on active boundary faults.

Temporal–Spatial Surface Seasonal Mass Changes and Vertical Crustal Deformation in South China Block from GPS and GRACE Measurements

The solid Earth deforms elastically in response to variations of surface atmosphere, hydrology, and ice/glacier mass loads. Continuous geodetic observations by Global Positioning System (CGPS) stations and Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) record such deformations to estimate seasonal and secular mass changes. In this paper, we present the seasonal variation of the surface mass ch...

Vertical Displacements Driven by Groundwater Storage Changes in the North China Plain Detected by GPS Observations

The North China Plain (NCP) has been experiencing the most severe groundwater depletion in China, leading to a broad region of vertical motions of the Earth’s surface. This paper explores the seasonal and linear trend variations of surface vertical displacements caused by the groundwater changes in NCP from 2009 to 2013 using Global Positioning System (GPS) and Gravity Recovery and Climate Expe...

Seasonal Mass Changes and Crustal Vertical Deformations Constrained by GPS and GRACE in Northeastern Tibet

Surface vertical deformation includes the Earth's elastic response to mass loading on or near the surface. Continuous Global Positioning System (CGPS) stations record such deformations to estimate seasonal and secular mass changes. We used 41 CGPS stations to construct a time series of coordinate changes, which are decomposed by empirical orthogonal functions (EOFs), in northeastern Tibet. The ...

Crustal deformation along the Altyn Tagh fault system, western China, from GPS

Abstract. We collected GPS data from the southern Tarim basin, the Qaidam basin, and the western Kunlun Shan region between 1993 and 1998 to determine crustal deformation along the Altyn Tagh fault system at the northern margin of the Tibetan plateau. We conclude from these data that the Altyn Tagh is a left-lateral strike slip fault with a current slip rate of 9 mm/yr, in sharp contrast with g...
